Hardened quantitative filter paper medium speed
Quantitative filter paper with hardening treatment. Medium filtration speed—suited for fine and medium precipitates such as barium sulphate and certain phosphates. Hardening provides the structural integrity needed for vacuum use without deformation or rupture.
Applications
Quantitative filtration in gravimetric analysis. Indicated where fine-to-medium precipitate retention is required without a significant sacrifice in throughput. Routine use in sulphate and phosphate determinations and precipitates of similar particle size to barium sulphate.
Compatible with post-filtration ignition: the hardening treatment does not interfere with ashing and leaves no significant residue.
Specifications
- Type: Hardened quantitative
- Filtration speed: Medium
- Retention: Fine and medium precipitates, barium sulphate particles and phosphates
- Wet strength: Enhanced by hardening treatment
- Suitable for: Vacuum filtration and gravimetric analysis with subsequent ignition
Selecting the right grade
For very fine precipitates requiring maximum retention, choose a slow-speed grade. For coarse precipitates where speed is the priority, use a fast grade. This medium-speed paper offers a practical balance—adequate retention of sulphites and comparable precipitates without extending filtration times significantly.
The hardening treatment is the key difference versus standard quantitative paper: it withstands vacuum pressure and handling of the wet filter cone without tearing.
