Quantitative Hardened Filter Paper, Slow Filtration
Fine-pore paper with hardening treatment. Retains very fine precipitates in gravimetric analysis. Hardening provides wet mechanical strength—handle without risk of tearing even when loaded with precipitate.
Applications
Gravimetric analysis with fine-grained precipitates requiring maximum retention. Suited for difficult filtration samples where standard papers fail to retain the analyte.
Common use in soil analysis laboratories, materials quality control, analytical chemistry, and cement testing.
Paper Characteristics
- Type: Quantitative hardened
- Filtration speed: Slow
- Porosity: Dense, fine pore
- Mechanical resistance: Hardened—withstands wet handling
- Application: Fine precipitates and difficult filtration samples
Why Hardening Matters
Hardened paper does not tear when handled with a wet precipitate load. The reinforced fibre allows direct transfer to the crucible without incident. Less sample loss.
Recommended Use
Gravity or moderate vacuum filtration. Compatible with standard glass funnels and Büchner funnels. After filtration, calcine the paper with precipitate directly in the crucible for gravimetric determination.
