Typical Applications

Extraction of fats, oils and lipids in food analysis and biological samples. Mobile phase or eluent in TLC and column chromatography—low polarity makes it suitable for non-polar compound separation. Used in organic synthesis as a recrystallisation or wash solvent.

Safety and Handling

Highly flammable liquid. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames. Work under fume extraction. Consult the SDS before first use. Classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment and harmful by prolonged inhalation.
